Oh, so that's what they meant........

I remember writing about both my Thailand trips on Just Me.

I also remember mentioning that a cousin asked me how Thailand was and that I responded with, 'it was GREAT and I want to live there'!

This was over 10 years ago.

After that, I would be made privy, progressively and over some years, as to why a lot of cis straight Indian men (or perhaps it's just all cis straight men) from Malaysia love taking trips to Thailand.

So the missing puzzle to this anecdote is the way the (male) cousin replied.

You know that congratulatory sleazy smile toxic cishet men give other toxic cishet men upon revealing their sexcapades?? I got that respond along with the words, "Ohhh, you had fun ah???? Ok Ok!"

And one day, years later, the former situation wherein I zealously announce my affinity to Thailand and how this man replied, came to mind, coinciding with the latter revelation of men's reason to visit Thailand.

And then it hit me....

Oh..... he thought that I....

Bless this Christian asshole!

Fucking dickhead doesn't know I'm a non-binary gay ass cock-sucking sissy!

I searched your site to find the post on your visit to Thailand. You accessed gay dating and porn sites. You can do that in Malaysia too. You had a pork burger at Macdonalds. There is pork in Malaysia too...

Tell me something exciting you did in Malaysia! Go-go boys? Bathhouse?

Hey Rob! Hope you're doing well. Always lovely to see your comment.

I am guessing you meant something exciting I did in Thailand, or else your comment seems counter-intuitive.

Well, let me preface my response by saying, sure, I could access gay dating and porn sites. The VPN is a good friend if one wants to bypass censorship. Oh yes, LGBT sites are monitored and censored in Malaysia. Even when all that could be done, was done, there's a certain level of discretion one has to practice in Malaysia lest they be unwillingly outed to family and friends or worse, face hate crimes and be persecuted (legally, and/or otherwise).

Eating pork isn't illegal, sure. But do me a favour and do a Google search about pork controversies in Malaysia. There was one that went viral on social media just months ago about a non-Muslim eatery selling pork TO NON-MUSLIMS but came under fire simply due to its name (Google 'pork nasi kandar'). Also, you won't find pork in 7-11s, McDs, KFCs, **insert every other popular food franchise** in Malaysia. It's almost taboo. There are people (this isn't simply anecdotal, it's a widespread problem) who won't consume food handled by non-Muslims. Some even won't share laundry machines in some places in this country (go ahead, look this up).

Being able to see pork sold EVERYWHERE and to surf pornography and dating websites without fear or persecution, that, THAT, to me, was exciting. Refreshing. To know I won't be a criminal. To know I don't have to hide and be in fear.

BTW, gay bath-houses in Malaysia are EASY TO FIND if you get hold of a sexually active gay man! You'd risk run-ins with the authorities from time to time but yes, they'd be easy to access. Me personally, with my aversion to physical intimacy (there's even a post on Just Me about this), I have NEVER done a Goddamned interesting gay thing in my life, EVER! You're asking the wrong person my friend. I am, for all intent and purposes, in matters relating to physical sexual encounters, a prude and a coward!

NEVER been to a bath-house, NEVER seen a male go-go dancer. Will probably NEVER do it in Malaysia. Would be scared to do it even in a gay accepting country.
